Christmas Songs!!!

Oh yes, it's that time of year again.  I can always tell when Christmas is nearing because my preschoolers get so excited!!  They all have something new to tell me when I come into their classroom; they can't wait to tell me about the Christmas tree they put up at home, or what songs they are singing in their preschool Christmas program, or that they saw Santa at the mall, and of course, they all have to tell me what they want for Christmas.  Preschool is a great time to enjoy the wonders of the season and the kids enjoy every single moment of it!  So, this year, as you are preparing your classroom or home for the holidays, don't forget to add some music to the celebration.  Let me help you out by recommending some great holiday songs that you can sing with your preschoolers - and don't forget to add some jingle bells and dance to the tunes!!

Jingle Bells - Rosemary Clooney

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas - Gretchen Wilson

Rudolph - Burl Ives, Ray Charles

We Wish You a Merry Christmas - Lou Rawls, The Allisons,  Nashville Bluegrass Ensemble

Joy to the World - Faith Hill, Nat King Cole, Anne Murray, Toby Keith

Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano

Away in a Manger - Billy Gilman

Up on the Housetop - Gene Autry, Jackson 5

Frosty the Snowman - Jimmy Durante

Jingle Bell Rock - Brenda Lee,  Hall and Oates

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives

Christmas Is - Mark Masri (featuring Jim Brickman)

Here Come Santa Claus - Gene Autrey, The Chipmunks

What Child Is This? - Julie Andrews, Concino Children's Choir

Silent Night - Cedarmont Kids, Jackie Evancho

Santa Claus is Comin to Town - Bruce Springsteen, Jackson 5, Countdown Kids

I've included more than one peformer for several of these songs.  There are so many good ones I just couldn't choose.  So, pick the one(s) you like the best, download to your iPod  or burn a CD, and enjoy the sounds of the season!
